Standard Automatic Emergency Braking on the Horizon for 2018

There are some new developments for Nissan headed our way soon. The Japanese automaker announced that it will be making automatic emergency braking a standard feature on eight 2018 models.

While several other automakers have their sights set on the same goal, we won't see the effects until 2022.

The 2018 Rogue, Rogue Sport, Sentra, Altima, Leaf, Pathfinder, and Murano are in the lineup for standard AEB. While there are a number of 2017 Nissan models that have this as an optional feature, the standardization will be sure to please drivers who prioritize safety features.

What is automatic emergency braking?

It's a system that senses how fast your vehicle is going and how far you are from the vehicle in front of you. If this system senses a potential collision, it will warn you to slow down and apply the brake automatically if necessary to help you avoid a crash. It can also help you reduce the effects of a collision should such an event be inevitable.
